The third International HR Day on Thursday 20th May 2021, recognised the important role of HR and people professionals. The profession’s response to the coronavirus pandemic as well as putting people’s welfare centre-stage in decision-making. International HR Day also underlined the importance of people management in a wider context.
The 2021 theme was about building an identity for HR into something bigger than itself. It is about our role as a profession in leading change to improve working lives, and not slipping back into traditional ways of thinking and working. The theme implies we are leading a future that will be more inclusive, flexible, participative; one which will benefit workers, organisations and society as a whole.
ARMENIAN HR ASSOCIATION
- DisruptHR Yerevan Global Success 2021 offline event on May 26
DisruptHR is a global success movement and now spans 31 countries and 137 cities. It is a movement that is designed to energize, inform and empower tomorrow’s leaders and game-changers who are interested in disruptive ideas and in moving forward. The event involved 8 speakers from various local companies and more than 160 participants. You can find all the speeches here.
BELGIUM – HRPro.be

HRPro.be hosted their annual conference on 20 May 2021 to coincide with International HR Day. These turbulent times have created a need for flexibility and adaptability. It has been a learning process for the organization and the employee. We often hear it from our teaching professors: learning is critical to our prosperity. The world is changing so fast that continuous learning is the only way to grow. A mission in which companies, teams and employees all have to play their part. But how can we best develop, what are the most important trends and observations. What lessons can we draw from this as an individual, team, organization and as a company? HRPro selected 13 compelling speakers for you to shed light on lifelong learning.
ISRAEL – Israeli Society for HR Management, Research and Development
Israel launched a new digital conference platform specifically for IHRD. Participants were able to choose from a large variety of pre-recorded Ted style lectures and live Zoom discussions. Managers organization-wide went out of their way appreciating the professional contents and innovative platform of Rafael’s 1st Hrday conference.
Other companies celebrated as well the HRDay, including Shamir Optical Industry, Meitav, Ayalon, IEC, Cyberbit. Newsletters and funny quizes with interesting facts about the HR team members were published in HR team members all over the world got presents, and all employees were invited to feedback HR teams and suggest/request for improvements -a “make a wish” process.
MACEDONIA – MHRA
The Macedonian HR Association held an online awards ceremony on International HR Day, May 20. This year, the HR Awards event was part of the program of events of associations, which are members of the European Association for People Management (EAPM), in order to mark the International HR Day.
On June 3, in accordance with COVID-19 protocols, MHRA organized a mini live event to award the prizes to the winners. The prizes were awarded by the President of MHRA, Darko Petrovski. We would like to congratulate all the winners of the awards and wish them much further success in the field of their work.
NORWAY – HR Norge
With HR Norge’s CEO Even Bolstad also being the current EAPM President, HR Norge collaborated with the EAPM to deliver the main International HR webinar as well as a HR Norge webinar in Norwegian. HR Norge also put together several video greetings with a range of HR leaders and specialists including the Norwegian Minister of labour. PORTUGAL – APG
In collaboration with other Portuguese-speaking countries (Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde,
Guinea-Bissau), Portugal had a week of online events. This included a free livestream/webinar, a Portuguese national TV show about International HR day and “Re-centering the role of people within Organizations” Campaign.
Switzerland – HR Swiss
HR Swiss celebrated International HR Day by holding a free session on ‘Conversational Self-Services – How chatbots and AI transform HR Services’. Introduction and Moderation was by Nicole B. Stucki, Chair HR Swiss, Speakers Nadine Hodler and Felix Anderegg from HR Campus.
