Economy
- Real GDP Growth : Year-on-year 6.5 %. 1st half of this year 4.5% compared to the same priod last year
- Inflation rate : In July year-on-year inflation reached 5% i.e. the 3rd highest level among OECD contries after Turkey and Iceland.
- Trends: GDP should be on this level. Inflation will be decreasing during next year
Politics
- Party in power: SMER SD Social Democratic party in coalition with Movement for democratic Slovakia and Slovak national party
- Changes over the last 12 months: The main changes happened in June despite of premature election. The right wing leading aparat was replaced by left wing. Often spoken slogans are : solidarity to all, equal possibilities, state will keep the needed ones in secure etc. State wants to by the monopol shares back and regulate strategic sectro prices – gas, oil, energy.Low reputation on international stage. ´
- Major issues on the agenda: Solidarity with middle and lower class, high taxation on rich ones, abolition mandatory fees in medical services, income increase in education, different money transfer from structural fonds, increase of minimal wage, double tax rate, state control over monopol
