Since January 1 2000, all reinvested corporate profits are exempted from corporate income tax in order to encourage enterprises to reinvest their profits. The system of VAT (set at 18 per cent) is in harmony with EU requirements. Employers pay a social and health insurance tax, which is 33 per cent of the gross wage.
